Greater Los Angeles Area trip!

We had a wonderful overnight trip this past weekend! A 24 hour vacation period is the perfect amount of time for our family right now. There was limited whining and we had a fun night in the hotel and then everyone is back to their own beds.

The first major event on our trip was Medieval Times and it was definitely the favorite part of the trip for us all. If you have not been (you are missing out) it is a jousting/sword fighting tournament and dinner. Dinner is delicious and eaten without silverware. Our knight was the valiant Blue Knight and we almost lost our voices cheering for him during competition. Our cheers were rewarded when he threw the 3 McKenna girls a flower. We all had a great night and then everyone crashed at the hotel after a few rounds of giggles!

Our 2nd day of fun began at the famous Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. This restaurant is the first place to serve chicken and waffles on one plate and matthew has wanted to eat there since moving to the west coast. Daddy had his plate of chicken wings and waffles and Roscoe's did not disappoint!

We of course could not come to LA and not be a little bit touristy! So we stopped and took pictures in front of the Grauman Chinese Theater, our favorite celebrities' handprints and the walk of fame. (Sorry about the underline not sure how to fix it!)

Then we headed over to the La Brea Tar Pits because the girls are all about dinosaurs and fossils lately. We had a great morning there. When we pulled up there was a line two blocks long. We were pretty worried but found out Tim Burton was doing a signing at the art museum which was next door.

We finished our mini-vacation at the Rainforest Cafe. One of the girls favorite places to eat. Although this time Loganne decided she was afraid of the gorilla and covered her ears every time it began to make noises.

The girls had a fantastic year in AWANA! Kaleigh was a Spark and Loganne loved being a Puggle! Kaleigh was able to finish her book, then she reviewed it and then she completed an entire extra credit book! We are so proud of her and especially excited that our 5 year old has already made a commitment to memorizing God's Word! It's also been fun to watch our kids enjoy the same program that Matthew and I attended together! Tuesday night was Awards Night and Kaleigh was so excited to receive her ribbon and extra credit pin.

Major Events We have Missed

Here are just a few events that I should have written about along the way. Not included are a lot of trips to Sea World, the Sparks A Rama, St Patty Day parade and party and oh yeah Matthew's unexpected 3 week trip to Japan!

We spent a long weekend in February up at 29 Palms visiting Kari and AJ. They were such great hosts and our trip included bowling, snow and a trip to Joshua Tree. The girls loved climbing the rocks and are begging to return!

LOGANNE TURNED 3!!! She is a spirited child who does most anything with quite a bit of intensity. She loves, plays and lives hard! She keeps us busy and challenged but she is so funny and lovable! We celebrated her birthday at a local park with some wonderful family friends!

Kaleigh and Matthew went to their first Daddy/Daughter dance! It was a mad hatter theme so Kaleigh had to get an outfit that looked like Alice and daddy of course rocked a cool hat! The pair had quite a good time!

My brother and Sara had a new baby boy, Drayton Leon! I was able to fly to the East coast in the beginning of January to meet my new nephew and to congratulate the wonderful parents. It was a great visit and now the girls cannot wait to meet their new cousin! Drayton was one of Kaleigh's 1st big prayer requests that has been answered!

We celebrated Christmas 2010 with my cousin, Kari and her husband AJ! It was so much fun and the girls absolutely adore both of them!

We have had an adventurous few months and so much more is to come!

God is so good!

So now I am regretting not keeping up with the blog but our busy lives in San Diego took over and keeps me away from the computer. We are really enjoying it here. Love our church, mom's group and Kaleigh's school community. So although we were expecting to leave sooner our recent extension here until next June is not the worse news! So the past few months have been filled with outings and good times with great friends!

Well with everyone here in a full holiday preparation swing our time is flying by. Here in San Diego the children get an entire week off of school so as of Friday Kaleigh begins her 9 day vacation. She will miss learning but is excited for the time at home. Both girls are excited about Thanksgiving but much more excited about their Christmas lists. I have been busy buying presents, ordering Christmas cards and all the fun things that come with this season. The weather is getting chilly and that's kinda nice for the holidays since Christmas in Texas is like 90 degrees. The girls have had a very chill schedule recently and their only big event during the week is AWANA and they LOVE it!!! Matthew and I were blessed to attend AWANA and now it is so cool to see my girls really learning about the Lord and memorizing His Word! These past few weeks have allowed us a lot of family time and a great time evaluating priorities! It's always wonderful to be reminded of what's important and gain a new perspective about life. God is good!

So September was all about getting into our new schedule with Kaleigh in kindergarten. After a month getting up early, changing nap time and homework are finally becoming the norm around here. Kaleigh loves school and Loganne and I are enjoying time together and fun outings! The girls are participating in gymnastics class as well as AWANA! Kaleigh especially enjoys memorizing her verses and game time. Loganne loves her puggles class and learning about God! We are now preparing for the Grand Prix! Matthew is liking work and enjoys quite a bit of family time and is hard at work making Kaleigh's car. AWANA pictures and our recent air show pictures to follow!

So I'm sure I am not the only one who is upset that I have not posted since April. Sorry to grandparents, family and friends but I got lazy thanks to facebook and let's be honest Daddy being home! I would like to get back on the blogging horse (if you will) because I really enjoy how it chronicles our lives! The past few months have been extremely enjoyable and filled with wonderful visitors from all over. We saw Aunt Katie, Uncle Goose, Dana and Liam, Grandmere and Grandpa, John Agnelli, the GGs and Mema! So many good times and it kept us all very busy. Matthew's new job here in San Diego has been such a blessing and allows him A LOT of family time! I am still doing my thing at home but now only have 1 child for 6 hours a day since Kaleigh started kindergarten. I know, crazy! She is of course loving it and doing very well. Loganne is liking more mommy one-on-one time and is still as fun and as crazy as ever. The McKennas are well and we hope that y'all are as well!

So our family has been on a bit of a golf kick. Matthew and I got out on the course for a couples' date with with folks, Kaleigh and daddy go to the driving range and the whole family went mini golfing and everyone was quite successful. Loganne even had a legitimate hole-in-one! I think we might have found our family sport although t-ball and soccer are pretty exciting in our backyard as well!

The last month has been a whirlwind of crazyness. I officially detached as CHENG of MCM Crew Exultant and decided to take 3 weeks of leave before I report to the LCS CLASSRON as OIC of SUW Mission Module Detachment 2. We also had visits from Grandmere and Uncle Goose (My Mom and Alex), and Mema and Pa (Jen's Mom and Dad). Here are some pictures of our last couple of weeks.

This past Monday Kaleigh's class went on a field trip to Sea World. It was a very fun trip and the McKenna girls were very excited that Daddy could join us since he took some leave. I know! He finally took some days off and it has been so much fun. Unfortunately we have been bopping all over the place and not remembering the camera but here are a couple of pics from Sea World. Now we are getting ready for visitors and looking forward to our adventures with Grandmere and Uncle Goose (we'll try our best to remember to capture the fun!)

Yes we had a birthday party for the dog. How do you say no when your 2 and 4 yr olds look up at you and say"But we have to celebrate with Magnus mommy"? So we went and bought a doggie cake, doggie-themed balloons and lots of goodies for him. Never thought I'd see the day that I attended a dog party and here I was organizing it! Happy Birthday Magnus!

So as I sit in this very brief moment of quiet I am reflecting on the oh so precious children we have been blessed with. I'm no poet or a fantastic writer but wanted to put in to words the wonderful things about my daughters through my eyes.

Both are beautiful but very different and yet a lot alike. One is very much a girlie girl and loves everything princess-related- gowns, high heels and ballet. The other enjoys airplanes, trucks, helicopters and enjoys a messy hair day. The eldest is put together, organized and enjoys order and routine while the youngest flies by the seat of her pants and would be up for just about anything at anytime. Kaleigh is obedient and rarely questions authority. She does what she's told and usually will just take what you say as truth and move on. Loganne not so much. She wants a place in this world and she sure is willing to fight you for it. It's challenging but so cute when she is fighting with me and yet I can tell she knows she's wrong. If we can figure out how to harness that amazing spirit she'll be unstoppable. Kaleigh loves being around people and sharing stories, making everyone laugh and being center of attention. Loganne has her spotlight moments but very often can be found quietly playing in her room all by herself. We pray that Loganne will be like Kaleigh and have a true heart for God. Kaleigh loves reading her "B-I-B-L-E" and saying memory verses. Although Loganne is not quite there she sure does love to pray and most of the time truly only God knows what she just said. We all catch the very loud Amen though.

The gifts we have been given are different but very much the same. Loganne watches, studies and repeats everything her big sister does and Kaleigh takes her example role very seriously. They both love books, watching movies, singing and dancing. They both know how to rock out to some good ole country music and love their daddy very much. Both are polite, loving and sweet. Both enjoy sleeping (just like their mom) and both enjoy laughing (even when they have to force out a fake laugh to get some attention). Neither child misses a thing and repeats just about anything said by their mommy! They are a true joy and we are so grateful for them!

KinderNights at the Zoo

This past Friday Kaleigh and I went to a special program at the San Diego Zoo and learned all about pink animals. It was a lot of fun and included a few stories, a secret entrance to the zoo, a craft and snack time. The bonus was our accompanying guest, Larry the Lobster. Kaleigh was chosen to bring Larry home from school and take him on all our weekend adventures. She was very excited and quite sad to return him today. Loganne continues to drive us crazy and melt our hearts very often in the same moment. She is absolutely a strong little girl and yet so sweet and so loving. She adores her big sister and spends most of her day saying and doing anything Kaleigh says or does. She is quite the daddy's girl! We had another fun weekend as a family and we are all very excited that daddy's relief is now onboard!!!!!

Wow how time flies! This past weekend we celebrated Loganne's 2nd birthday. Since we are new to the area and don't have lots of friends just yet to go all out on a birthday bash we decided to make it special with a night of dining and dolphins. The Dine with the Dolphins program at Sea World was so much fun and our early reservations got us the best seats in the house. It was so really quit wonderful and our evening ended with a Carvel cake and some presents at home. What a fantastic way to tell our oh so "spirited" child Happy Birthday!

PS It was quite cute to wish Loganne a Happy Birthday because then she would wish you a Happy Birthday as well!

Well after a hectic homecoming, Christmas, Pack Out, Drive to CA, Move In to CA, Starting Work, Starting School, and all around craziness of moving in, We're back online. Things here in CA are going well. I only have about two weeks until I get relieved as CHENG and about 6 weeks til I transfer. Then I'll be reporting to LCS as the SUW Mission Module OIC. Before anyone asks-I have no idea what that means.

So far in CA we've joined the San Diego Zoo and visited there several times. My parents gave us Sea World Memberships and we've been using them. Each Sunday we've headed out to a different church because we haven't found one that we all really like yet. The girls get funnier by the day. They each have such big and different personalities. Kaleigh is the apeitamy of a girly girl. Loganne may have a little body, but she has a big heart and lots of "spirit". Every moment with these two is an adventure.

So Much To Report

Erdner/McKenna Crew

So I have neglected our blog this month because life has been a little crazy and there are no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The beginning of this month was of course the beginning of preparations for Daddy's homecoming, Christmas and our upcoming move. We were happily interrupted when the wonderful Erdners stayed with us for about a week before their move to RI. Our dear friends are very missed but we enjoyed a lot of time together and the kids had a blast doing holiday things and enjoying sleepovers.

At the end of their stay Ms. Melissa watched Loganne so that I could go to the doctor's to have a mole removed. No big deal right? Well then the biopsy came back and it was a melanoma so I ended up having surgery on the 21st to have some tissue and a few lymph nodes removed for further testing. God is good and everything came back negative for any cancer. The Lord also provided amazing people to watch my children and accompany me to the hospital (daddy was still in Bahrain and quite worried at that).

Then we prepared for Daddy's Homecoming after being apart for almost 10 months. It was a very joyful time as well as emotional! It has been so wonderful having daddy home and discovering what the Lord showed each of us during our separation. Our God is so amazing and truly used this deployment to teach us and bring us closer.

Then we celebrated Christmas as a family and enjoyed a very relaxing day filled with joy, laughter and food! We are now preparing for our move to CA as the movers arrive in just 2 sleeps. We pray that the Lord has blessed your holiday season as well and you had time to enjoy your family and friends. We were so blessed this year and we are looking forward to what the Lord has for us in our next adventure. Texas and the wonderful people of Texas will be very missed and are very loved by the McKenna crew!

You ever have those days, weeks or months and you know you have been really busy but you can't really think of what kept you so busy???? That has been the McKenna girls the last few weeks. We have been busy doing lots of fun things but now I can't recall what they were exactly and apparently my camera is no help and I have no pictures to prove all the fun we have been having. We have received some exciting news though. We will be celebrating Christmas as the 4 McKennas and then we will be moving to San Diego. ROAD TRIP (with 2 small children and a very large dog...I'll let you know how that goes.)!!!!

Houston Zoo on Sunday

So if you have not seen my last post you can read that first to hear about our trip in the right order! Anyway....Sunday we went to the Houston Zoo and the kids really enjoyed it!

The girls especially enjoyed the animal carousel and the children's zoo that had a petting zoo, a playground and lots of exhibits that incorporated play equipment!

It was such a great trip and was especially special because we did it with such great friends!

This past weekend the McKenna girls ventured to Houston, TX to check out some of the local activities with our dear friends the Erdners. The girls did very well on the ride and were so well behaved that I never even got the DVD player out. Upon arrival we went to the Children's Museum which was super fun! It had a cute kid city, water fun, tunnels and towers and was a perfect first place on our vacation!

The next day after "living in the hotel" for one night we went to the Johnson Space Center. It was very interesting and allowed for a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were actually allowed to view an operating Mission Control room so Kaleigh was able to see an astronaut that was on the International Space Station. This was also the roughest part of our vacation b/c Loganne had a 2 hour meltdown during the tour! I apologize to everyone on the NASA 10:40 tram ride this past Saturday but after a good nap she bounced back.

After some sleep we headed down to the pool to dip our feet (well the girls on the trip dipped their feet but Lucas decided nothing was keeping him from swimming)!

Then we made the 25 minute drive to Galveston Island to eat at the Rainforest Cafe and enjoy the beach at night. It was a really fun night and the fresh air certainly helped with a smooth transition to night night time!

Our Staycation

This past weekend the girls and I ventured to North Padre Island for an overnight trip at a hotel. This was the view of the Gulf of Mexico from our balcony!

Both girls loved the balcony and spent a good deal of time there listening to the waves and watching the moth migration!

Too Cute! Loganne enjoyed the beach and was able to get over the fact that her feet were dirty!

They were so good during the day and played really well with one another. Kaleigh kept referring to Loganne as "her best friend".

The hotel had a playground near the beach and it was perfect for some outside time without the sand!

Kaleigh enjoyed the arts and crafts we had brought including this paperoni that she made at 5:30 am!

So we discovered that pumpkin picking and fall-related activities are not quite the same in Texas as they would be in NY or any other colder state but nonetheless we had fun! We went with the Erdners to a local church and picked out some pumpkins and took some pictures. We enjoyed dinner and then ice cream on the beach! It was a gorgeous fall day and then the girls came home and decorated their pumpkins with face stickers. Fun stuff!

Today was Kaleigh's 5th soccer game and she played awesome! She scored twice (even though one counted for the other team) and she hustled, dribbled and ran so hard! I am so proud of her and feel horrible that this exciting news cannot be accompanied by pictures because I forgot the camera today. I hope the little soccer player keeps it up and I'll catch her in action next week! Now I understand why parents are so intense on the sidelines. I'm not gonna lie I was into it and yelling with excitement quite a bit! It was so fun and I am such a proud soccer mom today!

Today we went with some friends to the good ole bowling alley and had a blast. It was the girls first time and Kaleigh really liked it! Loganne of course did not play but was so excited for the other kids she didn't really care. She enjoyed cheering and snackin'. So much fun and definitely an activity we will be doing again. After bowling we went to Los Comales (awesome Mexican food) and then we hit McDonalds' play place! It was such a great afternoon/evening and now everyone is pooped and ready for some zzzzz's!

The other day we went out to Rockport and we were all able to ride a horse. Kaleigh has been taking lessons and really enjoys it so she was excited to ride a different horse named Epic. The most fun though was being able to ride with Loganne and boy was she into it. I'm hoping our military lifestyle prohibits Daddy from buying his girls a horse!

She had a rough introduction to the game of soccer and spent most of the game crying or screaming. The problem was really two fold...1. She was convinced she was being left out and no one was "sharing the ball" and 2. She refused to run because she was sweating. This past week has been crazy for us but we were able to squeeze in some fun activities! On Wednesday Kaleigh and mommy had some special time at the local art studio. Kaleigh painted a beautiful mermaid and cannot wait to pick it up this week. Then after some quick dinner we headed to the soccer field for Kaleigh's first practice. The quote from the 1/2 hr practice was "I have to stop I'm sweating". It should be an interesting season! The best thing about being a military family is being able to travel all over and make wonderful friends. Texas was no exception. This week we said goodbye or see ya later to the Seward Family. Ben served with Matthew here and now they are headed to Virginia for family time and shore duty. We always had so much fun and the girls (both moms and daughters) became very close friends. We pray that God would continue to bless their family and their next Navy adventure. They will be missed!

After a rainy, stormy week here in Texas today Kaleigh finally started horseback riding lessons. Needless to say she loved it and so did Loganne! The entire ride there Kaleigh kept singing "With her cowboy boots, She's country!" It was really cute and she was so excited. She rode, fed and brushed the horse! I didn't know that Little Bit would be so into it but she loved getting a chance to ride the horse as well! Thank you so much Aunt Katie, Uncle David and Liz for the great birthday present! Along with pictures I also took video!

Well we are off to a great start for Kaleigh's school days. She absolutely loves her Pre-K class and teachers. She is so excited every morning that she gets to go to school! Loganne has found another male buddy and loves Scott. And Kaleigh is of course, so excited to have her princess-obsessed Aunt Sara here! We have already enjoyed a few meals out including one to celebrate Scott and Sara's 3 yr Anniversary and we also checked out the aquarium. I'm sure more adventures and fun will fill our next few days with our visitors!

Kaleigh really likes playing with Loganne especially when she makes all the rules. Here is Loganne playing a game that Kaleigh introduced her to. If you have seen the Disney movie Bolt you know that there is a cat named Mittens who at one point puts a bucket on her head for protection so...... Kaleigh gets to be Penny with her stuffed Bolt and then poor Loganne has to be Mittens and wear a bucket on her head. Interestingly enough it is fun for all of us b/c I laugh hysterical, Kaleigh gets to play her game and Loganne is thrilled to be included! I LOVE IMAGINATION!!!!

Well my mom has been here for a week and we have been busy! Home projects, yard work and fun, fun, fun is being accomplished these days. We have been through childrens' clothing, closets and toys, bushes have been trimmed and our garage has been organized! We have also already visited the museum, aquarium and our local community pool! I just love visitors! I also had a very monumental day.....I registered Kaleigh for Pre-K! Everything went smoothly with necessary paperwork and then I got in my car and cried all the way home. Can she really be 4 already? I felt much better when I arrived home to thankful hugs and kisses! The girl cannot wait to get to school!

Well 4 years ago when I had my first girl I never would have guessed that she would be obsessed with dressing up. I, myself am not what most would call a "girlie girl" although I do enjoy clothes and shoes. Well over 2 years ago a certain someone (Aunt Sara) introduced Kaleigh to the world of princesses and dressing up and that is still her favorite thing to do! We have princess dresses, ballet outfits, fancy dresses and now a new addition thanks to Aunt Dana! Pixie dust anyone? I love the shoes b/c she actually has to shuffle kinda like a fairy!

Well I can't believe it but my little girl is 4! We had a wonderful weekend celebrating. We were so excited that Grandmere was here for the festivities! Kaleigh requested a Pink Princess party at her favorite place...Home! I practically begged her to have a Chuck E cheese party or to do something at the aquarium or museum so that I could avoid cleaning but she insisted so I was happy to clean her fave place for her friends! We partied with some cupcakes, ice cream sundaes and a whole lot of dancing on the 25th! Sunday the 26th (her actual birthday) was of course church and then we headed to the aquarium for some fishy fun and pretzels. A good time was had by all and the birthday girl was full of thank yous and hugs! Thank you to all our friends and family who sent gifts and fabulous Princess birthday cards. They were very appreciated!

We had such a great time! It was so great to be around such wonderful teenagers. We are so proud of both of them and love anytime we get to spend with each of them. Loganne and Kaleigh loved having lots and lots of attention. Kaleigh is already excited about webcamming with them both! Our days were full with a visit to the aquarium, some pool time, a beach trip and of course the circus! Our nights were eventful with movies and UFC 100 (they were keeping me young and staying up to the wee hours of the morning). What a blast!

This July 4th weekend was so much fun for the McKennas. We were very blessed to have friends include us in many of their plans and we had a blast! Our weekend started off early on Friday when we drove up to Rockport on Copano bay. Our wonderful neighbors, the Eggers invited us to come and stay at their parents' cabin and we had so much fun on our overnight visit. The girls swam, played with friends and Kaleigh even went jetsking (more to come on that later)! Then on Friday night we went to Ingleside to see the Mircovichs and watch the fireworks from their pier and eat some watermelon. We woke up on Saturday back in Rockport to a delicious breakfast and then our day was filled with more fun in the sun and great friends. Saturday night we left Rockport (our feet dragging) to head to a party in Portland. The girls were true troopers and were so good and we had so much fun that our evening party lasted longer than expected! Overall it was a great few days! Hope everyone else had a very happy 4th of July! Thanks again to everyone here in Texas that included us in your weekend plans!

This was Kaleigh's second lesson and it went much better than the first lesson. During the 1st lesson she was crying to get out of the water and Loganne was crying to get in the water. We were very excited to be able to celebrate with GGma yesterday! We had a wonderful day that included dinner at Olive Garden, an ice cream cake and some swimming. Well we had another wonderful time with the Hagers. We missed Uncle Garrett but had so much fun with Aunt Sarah and the kids! Let me begin this update by proclaiming that God is so good! He continues to bring peace and strength to our household during this time of challenge. Happy belated Easter and I pray that you would celebrate His resurrection not only on Easter but daily! Our Easter was very blessed and we were especially excited about Mema's presence with us for the holiday. We had a wonderful week with Mema including an overnight stay in San Antonio, an aquarium visit, Easter activities and awesome church services.

Our week once again has been filled with throw up and diarrhea. When you spend so much time around other kids I guess you have to expect some sickness. Well since I'm not prepared to become a hermit crab I guess I will deal with the sickness. I must say though all things considered my girls really rock! Most of the time their smiles and good attitudes would never indicate that they are so sick. Kaleigh keeps saying "I'm ok because I am brave like my daddy."

I think it is a privilege and a blessing that I get to stay home with my kids! However this mom is not exactly a stay at home mom. We once again have spent the last week enjoying all that South Texas has to offer. Including a few trips to the museum and aquarium, playdates, dance class and all the beautiful parks! This week Kaleigh even got to touch some snakes, turtles and a baby alligator. So fun and I get to be there for it all! All the smiles, laughs and even the cries but I wouldn't trade it for the world. God is good!

Well The McKennas just returned home from an awesome trip to Disney World! We enjoyed some time with our dear friends the Hagers, then saw the Noce/Izaguirre family and then all the McKennas came into town to enjoy some days at the Disney parks. The girls absolutely loved Disney especially the Princess Breakfast at Epcot and the Electric parade at the Magic Kingdom. It was just a joy to watch my kids light up with pure amazement, eyes wide, mouths opened and loving every minute of it. Well maybe not every minute we of course had a few meltdowns due to the demands of a Disney trip on little ones but overall they really rocked. We survived our days at the parks thanks to an awesome family effort. Everyone chipped in to make it an extremely special time for both girls. As we entered the Magic Kingdom Kaleigh's only words were, "I can't believe my eyes!" It was so fun. Unfortuantely my camera battery died just before our time in the parks so here are pics from the beginning of the week. I'll share more when I get them from Grandmere and Aunt Katie. Thanks again Grandmere and Grandpa for a great vacation!

Camping McKenna Style

For quite some time now Kaleigh has been asking Daddy to take her camping. We are pretty sure it was just for the marshmellows and the campfire stories. We were going to get a cabin about 45 minutes away but our fear was she would eat some s'mores and then want to go home to sleep. So we got creative! Last night Matthew set up our beach tent, her cot and an air mattress and had the fire going in the fireplace. As soon as she saw the set up she immediately started dancing around and shouting "We're going camping!". Due to the fact that this was a special Daddy/Daughter event Kaleigh insisted that they wear matching outfits so she put on her Under Armor shirt to look like dad. They looked so cute together! We had some hotdogs and beans and then made s'mores (PS Kaleigh didn't like them and wouldn't eat them). Matthew rented a movie that we watched from our sleeping bags and then Kaleigh and Daddy told "scary" stories before it was bedtime. She woke up so excited that she had been camping. It was a success without the dirt, bugs and cold!

Ode to Super Wal-Mart

After my visit to Wal-mart the other day I think that they all should be super! I was able to get my oil changed, get Kaleigh's haircut, buy greeting cards, wrapping paper, gifts, diapers, meat for dinner and even get pictures printed out. Awesome! Just thought it deserved a brief mention since it saved me a decent amount of time but more importantly a number of in and outs of the car (which is no small matter with 2 children). Thank you Super Wal-Mart and to all of you without one of these terrific stores may one come to your area soon!

So our baby is ONE today and part of me is in disbelief and the other part of me is not surprised that she is finally here! Loganne Joy has certainly brought us many great times during the last year and she is such a blessing. She is now 1 and has quite the personality. She is always exploring her environment, loves to repeat any sounds and loves, loves, loves her sister! She showed no hesitation when diving into her cupcake tonight and typically bites off more than she can chew (both figuratively and literally). She is strong-willed, tough and yet very affectionate. She sometimes lacks focus because she wants to see and do it all! She loves games and already shows a competitive spirit. She really enjoys being silly and recently has started to shake her head (we refer to it as "rocking out") to get laughs. She likes crazy noises and rough play even wrestling with her big sister. Loganne Joy has truly been a joy this past year and we all have "an attitude of gratitude" (Kaleigh's new line) for her as an addition to our family! So Happy 1st Birthday Loganne!!!!

A Weekend with Grandmere and Grandpa

This past weekend Grandmere and Grandpa came to Texas to see us. We had a great time playing games, reading books, going to the aquarium and the museum. We also celebrated Grandmere and Loganne's birthdays with some singing and a pudding pie (our birthday cake substitute). Grandmere and Grandpa arrived bearing gifts and surprises and Kaleigh loves her new pink princess dress. Loganne loved Grandpa's beard and screaming for "Mere". Kaleigh was all smiles during the visit until they had to leave and then the tears started to roll. We can't wait to see the McKenna clan again in March for an awesome trip to Disney! Kaleigh is so excited to wear her new dress to the Princess breakfast!

How cute is she?

Well the Lord sustained this usually active mommy while she suffered from cabin fever thanks to a terrible stomach flu. Everyone in the house got it for at least 24 hours but poor little Loganne suffered for about 5 days with it. I think now we are on the mend. The week did give us some more opportunity for play, girl bonding and even a team effort in cleaning the house. Kaleigh is not only an awesome big sister who took care of her sick little sister but she even helped mommy clean the house. She loves Clorox wipes and Windex (God really knew what he was doing when He blessed me with this adorable cleaner). So she wiped down all the popular toys, hard surfaces and even the floors. As I sit here blogging about it I'm mad I didn't grab the camera. I'll catch her next time in action. Daddy has been super busy getting ready for a huge inspection this upcoming week. He really has been Superdad this week working crazy long hours, helping with sick kids even at 2:30 am and even getting some yard work done even if it was raining. Now we will start getting ready for a visit from Grandmere and some birthday plans for the big 1 year old!

So apparently I spoke too soon. As soon as I posted our last post the entire Team McKenna got some crazy stomach flu. We have all had our fair share of vomitting and diarrhea (sorry if that is TMI for some of you). I think now we are finally feeling better after a few days of quarantine. Loganne continues to have some diarrhea but hopefully that will stop real soon. Mommy still has lots of laundry and cleaning to do and then I think we will be back to life! Hope everyone out there has been able to avoid this sickness thing this season! Hope all is well!

Well after some weeks of one, some or all of us being sick we are finally feeling better. So we are back to our usual fun routine of aquarium visits, dance , gymnastics and other fun events with friends. The only thing lingering now is some vomiting from Loganne. Besides the actual throw-up though you would never know that the poor girl was sick. She continues to play, smile and be happy. She is so sweet but she is a tough kid. Daddy is so proud!

In recent weeks the most fun thing about Team McKenna has been watching the girls' relationship grow and become something really special. Kaleigh still calls Loganne by her name but now she also calls her "best friend". It truly warms my heart and at times brings tears to my eyes to watch them play and already care so much about one another. Kaleigh is so tender and at times very rough when loving her sister. You would think the wrestle type love would bother Loganne but all she does is laugh uncontrollably. She loves it! The Bit just wants to be with Kaleigh all the time. She gets quite frustrated when Kaleigh has friends over and she just can't keep up on her hands and knees. I think walking might be in her near future just so she can play with the big kids.

Well Team McKenna have been in a quarantine situation thanks to the kids being sick. I am happy to report that Kaleigh is feeling much better but Loganne continues to suffer from congestion, a runny nose and coughing not to mention the 4 teeth that are arriving as well. Although life was slowed down for us both kids have been super tough throughout the whole thing. Anyone looking at our smiling, happy Loganne would not believe how sick she really is. Now if our sleeping schedule could get back to normal we would be good to go!

Anyway I was looking through our photos today because it is so easy to do on an iMac and came across some pics of our friends the Hagers and while I was doing so Sarah called me. So here's to friends who may live far away but are very missed. Thank you for the good times in the past and more in the future! Miss you all very much! Well the McKennas had an uneventful New Year's Eve and pathetically did not even make it until midnight. When did we get so old? However New Year's Day was spent with some good friends (the Eggers our wonderful neighbors and Jac O from the ship), a delicious meal made by dad and beautiful weather that allowed for some more bike riding! Hope you all had a terrific week celebrating the beginning of 2009! Happy New Year eveyone!
